Bengali Actor Pijush Ganguly Dies After Tragic Accident

Popular Bengali actor Pijush Ganguly, who met with an accident recently, died at a city hospital on Sunday.

Ganguly was rushed to the Belle Vue Clinic with multiple injuries after his car collided head-on with a bus in Howrah on October 20.

“He died of multiple organ failure early on Sunday,” said a doctor.

“He died at 2.45 AM because of multiple organ failure and fat embolism in a case of polytrauma after he met with a road accident on Tuesday,” said a senior official of the Belle Vue Clinic, where he had been admitted. His condition turned critical on October 24 and he had been put under ventilation with full life support as his parameters had been fluctuating massively.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had also paid a visit to inquire about his condition on the day Ganguly was admitted to the hospital, tweeted on Sunday: “Shocked and saddened that actor Pijush Ganguly died. He was close to us and very talented. My condolences to his family. RIP.”

State BJP president Rahul Sinha, in a statement, said: “May Ishwar bless his wife and son with enough strength to cope with this immense tragedy. Sri Pijush Ganguly will always be remembered through his lively onscreen performances. May Ishwar bless his soul with eternal peace.”

He had acted in acclaimed films like Goynar Baksha by Aparna Sen, Laptop by Kaushik Ganguly, Byomkesh Phire Elo by Anjan Dutta, Iti Srikanta by Anjan Das and Mahulbanir Sereng by Sekhar Das.
