BJP MLA turns Gujarati actor.
Politician turned actor Madhu Srivastav has tried to highlight the difficulty faced by farmers whose land is illegally grabbed by mafia, through his Gujarati film ‘Thakorna Kol Jagma Anmol’.
He stated that, “I decided to launch this movie to highlight social issues and help farmers in getting their lands illegally grabbed by the mafias and anti social elements.”
Madhu Shrivastav is playing the role of a social worker in film. The film is scheduled to release at the cinema screens across Gujarat on 14th March, 2015. Shrivastav said, “You have seen many actors who become politicians, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, and late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao. But here is the case of a neta becoming abhineta.”
The movie ‘Thakorna Kol Jagma Anmol’ is produced by his son Dipak Srivastav who is a BJP corporator in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and another family member Atul Srivastav. The shooting for the film took place on the banks of Narmada river at Chandod town which is about 60 kms from Vadodara, Rajpipla, Halol, Pavagadh and other places which including Madhu’s Waghodiya Assembly constituency.
The premier of the movie will be held at a city theatre on 13th March next year. Madhu Srivastav was in news some years before when he was caught on camera in a sting operation, where he was caught confessing that he had paid money to Best Bakery riot case prime witness Zaheera Sheikh to turn hostile.
The Best Bakery, a small outlet in the Hanuman Tekri area of Vadodara, was allegedly attacked by a mob, which burned down the bakery, killing 14 people on March 1, 2002. The attack was part of the 2002 Gujarat violence.
