Cash and gold worth Rs 11.6 lakh stolen from Ram Kapoor’s parent’s house
TV actor Ram Kapoor, who is known for his roles in movies like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Student Of The Year’, reportedly accompanied his mother on Wednesday (August 5) to police station with a complaint that jewellery and cash worth Rs 11.60 lakh have been stolen from his parents’ house in upscale Grand Paradi Society on Malabar Hill.
As per reports, the theft took place when Ram’s mother Rita Kapoor and father Anil were out of the city. The police suspect it to be an “insider’s role”. The complaint said that a locker in the couple’s bedroom had been broken into.
Ram stays a few blocks away from his parents’ house. He was quoted as saying, “My father has been out of the country for quite some time, and my mother was at our farmhouse in Khandala for the last four days. She is extremely shaken by the incident. It was her locker that was broken into. The complaint was submitted on Wednesday night. There haven’t been an update from the police but it’s been only a day since the complaint was filed. My family and I have complete faith in the police.”
The report also says that on Thursday (August 6) morning, the crime branch officers inspected the ground-plus-one storey house and took samples of the finger impressions on the locker. An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 454, 457 and 380.
“Prima facie, it seems to be an insider’s job,” a police officer said. “There was a security guard, a house staff, and my dog, which always sleeps on the ground floor. After the theft, we saw that the main door was untouched,” Ram added.
