Dudhsagar Fall

Dudhsagar Fall is well known as a Sea of Milk. It is an amazing waterfall situated on the Mandovi River on Goa’s border with Karnataka state. It is four-layered beautiful waterfall which is 46 km from Madgaon railway junction by train and 60 km from Panaji city (capital of Goa) by road.
The waterfall is called Dudhsagar because the flowing water seems like white milk. Doodh is the Hindi phrase for milk.
The story behind it is that a gorgeous princess survived in the forest in a fort near Dudhsagar. She used to take enjoy bathing in a lake nearby and used to drink “sweetened milk” from her “golden jug” after ending with her bath. One day when she was enjoying a jug of milk she found herself being watched by king, who was standing between the trees. Suddenly she got embarrassed at her insufficient bathing outfit. She transferred the jug of milk in front of him to form a managed shade to cover her body while the maids came to cover her with her clothes. It is assume that due to this reason sweetened milk that pours down the mountain slant as Dudhsagar Falls to this day as a praise to the asset and modesty of the princess.
