Actor-Presenter Jay Soni is popular for his powerful roles in Sasural Genda Phool, Bhaag Bakool Bhaag to name a few. Jay has been constantly entertaining his fans with his mesmerizing performance and will be soon debuting in the world of Gujarati Cinema with Rajat Kirti Chaudhari‘s Lamboo Rastoo opposite Ishqbaaz starrer Shrenu Parikh. The film will hit the big screen on the 7th of September, 2018.
We got in touch with Jay to ask him about his feelings in doing a film in his mother tongue. He shares, “It’s a mixed feeling. I am happy and proud because my parents are really happy since I have done a Gujarati movie. Yes, I was very very nervous and very stressed by thinking about whether I’ll be able to do it or not because I hadn’t done anything in Gujarati back then… So I was worried as to how will I pull it off but my director really supported me and told me to be myself.”
Talking about his character, Jay reveals, “My character is a rock star who is trying to create a mark who is very positive about his talent and that one day he will definitely make it. There are ups and downs but how he goes through them will be shown in the movie. He loves his daughter a lot. You will experience Father-Daughter love, which is never been seen in a Gujarati film. I loved the subject overall and thus I opted to do this one.”
Further, sharing about his co-star Shrenu, Jay says, “It was fabulous… It was superb working with Shrenu. She is very good with her Gujarati language so she has helped me a lot too.”
We asked Jay if he would do any Gujarati daily soaps, on which he shares, “No, No Not at all, but I don’t mind doing Gujarati films if it’s a good script.”
Jay, who recently debuted in a theatrical play by Prasad Khandekar called Blind Date, talks about trying a different genre of work. He says, “Even doing theatre was my debut. As an actor, I believe in learning new things and pushing my limits. The play was again a good script and good makers so I said I don’t mind doing it. I love challenging myself and doing new things. The response is very good.”
Jay shares, “As of now there are no upcoming projects, I believe in going with the flow.”
Finally, Mr. Soni has a small message for all his fans, “Thank you for all the love and support and you guys have to watch my film, which is releasing on 7th September, and shower the same amount of love and support on me.”
We wish the much talent actor good luck for all his future projects and new ventures.
