Jal Movie Review
Director: Girish Malik
Cast: Purab Kohli, Kirti Kulhari, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Saidah Jules
Rating: 3.5 stars
Jal is a decent movie that will touch your heart. Jal movie is the directorial debut of Girish Malik. There is more than just a little bit of Shakespeare in Girish Malik’s directorial debut. Jal might be slow at times, but the story is simply an entertainer as there is love, drama, emotions and suspense in the film. The story is all about need of water which leaves you with the challenged part of civilisation where drinking water is more precious than anything in the world. The film has delivered desert life of Rann of Kutch that shows poetic beauty.
Jal starrer Purab Kohli characterized Bakka is a man gifted with the power to find the water in the desert. Jal traced his journey, his efforts, success, failure and his love life. Purab has played one of the most challenging character of his career and has given a remarkable performance.
A Russian activist bird-watcher Kim (Saidah Jules) is much fascinated by the dying flamingos. She tries to save the birds with the help of the villagers. Purab Kohli’s acted well as Bakka. Kirti Kulhari as Kajri did a fabulous job too. Saidah Jules as Kim gave her best shot in the film. The film’s cinematography is breathtaking and it’s a decent film to watch..
