Bollywood & Marathi film actress Sai Tamhankar volunteered with an NGO to create awareness for the hearing impaired & mute!
Holder of the Femina Most Powerful Woman of the Year Award a decade ago, Bollywood actress & Marathi star Sai Tamhankar has featured in a short film ‘Shining through Silence’ in association with Josh foundation spreading awareness for the hearing impaired.
Last seen in Bollywood movie Hunterrr, Sai Tamhankar volunteered for Josh Foundation urging people to be forthcoming & encouraging to give equal opportunities to the hearing impaired & mute.
The film features Sarah Thadani Patel, a hearing impaired girl who now is a Make-up and hair artist and is an independent individual. It also features Sai Tamhanar, the current Filmfare awardee, who is seen supporting the cause and also getting her makeup done by Sarah.
Having done over 40 films, the actress strongly supports the cause, she shares, ‘People who do not have what we have and what is known as ‘normal’ need more than sympathy ! We should empower them to be self sufficient.’
Founder of Josh foundation, Dr. Jayant Gandhi shares further taking this initiative ahead, “By spreading awareness and treating it at an early stage, we can enable millions of hearing impaired children around the world to talk normally like us. If given an opportunity and the right guidance, sky is the limit for them”
The foundation that has been instrumental in nurturing lives of over 750+ children by providing them pairs of digital hearing aids FOC, they have inspired many hearing impaired to become engineers, graphic designers, photographers, interior designers, management students and inspired to be self dependent and to be a part of normal society.
They wish to pass on this message very clearly that “THEY DON’T NEED SYMPATHY, THEY NEED SUPPORT.’
