Prosenjit Chatterjee to play the role of an Alzheimer’s patient!

Soumik Chattopadhaya had written the script of the movie titled as ‘Mone Rekho’, two years back and now, he is finalizing the draft along with Srijato. There are news that the film might star actor Prosenjit Chatterjee.

“It is too early to talk about the film, as we are drafting the final script and I must admit Srijato has done a fabulous job. I had narrated the script to Bumbada (Prosenjit) two years back and he had liked it, though he had suggested some changes. This time, he heard the script and loved it. So, we can’t say he is on board until and unless he has heard the final script and everything is in black and white. It’s true that the film needs an actor who has an aura like Bumbada. In fact, I had sketched the character keeping him in mind. But I am yet to finalize who will play his wife’s role,” Soumik said.

Talking about the film’s storyline, he added, “The film shows what happens when a powerful and knowledgeable man suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. The story centres on India’s biggest copywriter Aritro Sengupta, who is based in Delhi. He is a sought-after man, who has a planned life and is considered a living dictionary in his fraternity. But suddenly, life takes a turn and he starts forgetting words. The world seems to fall apart in front of his eyes. Aritro is shattered when he comes to know that he will live for five more years. He tries to derive happiness out of small things like spending time with his wife, who is also his childhood sweetheart. He never had time for anyone before. Slowly, he realizes that the ‘right time’ has passed. He embarks on a journey of self-realization. I can’t reveal the climax as it has a twist. Over all, it’s a love story that celebrates life.”

Prosenjit, too, is hoping for things to work out so that he can work in the film. He says, “Soumik did approach me and I quite liked the script, especially Aritro’s character, which is very complex. I’m yet to hear the final script. But as of now, I love the story and my character.Let’s hope things work out.”

If all goes according to the plans, the film Mone Rekho will hit the theaters by the end of the year, as Prosenjit is busy in a series of projects with Goutam Ghose, Kamaleswar Mukherjee and Srijit Mukherji.
