Ranbir’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ To Release In May
‘Bombay Velvet’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma has moved the date of release to next year. The movie was scheduled to release this year by November 25 during Christmas, but the date was pushed forward to avoid clash with Aamir Khan starrer ‘PK’. The film will now hit the theaters by May 15 during summer vacations.
It’s a periodic drama, where Ranbir plays the role of a street fighter who goes on to become the manager of a jazz club. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the music to release this November, but it would not be unveiled before May.
Director Anurag Kashyap confirmed the news and said, “The film needed time, given all the work that was pending. Now that we have locked the release date, everyone associated with it is thrilled. An exciting marketing plan is being crafted to promote it in a way no film has been presented before”. The reason for postponing the date of release was that the film ‘Bombay Velvet’ which is based on the era of 60s needed to work more on the VFX as it has to show a complete different old Mumbai and not this modern one.
Producer Vijay Singh stated that, “it was necessary because the Ranbir Kapoor starrer recreates the Mumbai of the ’60s and as a result needed extensive visual effects which will only be completed by January end. “It will definitely be the biggest release, in terms of prints, of the first half of 2015”.
When Vijay Singh was asked why they are releasing this film during summer vacations and IPL’s end, he told, “Summer holidays are a good time to release a film and people would have had enough of cricket by then,” argues Singh. “It’s a Ranbir Kapoor film, a beautiful love story set against the rise of our city. It’s authentic cinema with amazing performances and we are all excited about the May 15 opening.”
