Veebha Anand’s zero budget film goes Cannes
Popular television actress Veebha Anand, who rose to fame with her character Sugna in Balika Vadhu and was later loved for her role in Zee TV’s popular daily soap Sanskaar Laxmi, would reportedly be seen in a zero budget short film. The movie named Pratha is said to be produced by Vansh and Suren Kakkar.
The film basically focuses on the life of a young village girl, Shyamli (being played by Veebha) who is brave enough to question the orthodox Indian society. Talking about her character in the film, Veebha recently shared, “I am playing the role of Shyamli in the movie who is a young and brave village girl. Shyamili is so brave that she led the funeral pyre of her father, which is against the orthodox Indian culture, which according to our Indian culture is a right performed by males in our society. She dares to challenge the idiosyncrasy of the Indian people and faces many challenges”.
Interestingly, the film has been made with zero budget and has been selected for a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival. “The storyline is very interesting and the entire movie is made on zero budget. The movie will also be shown in International film festival such as Cannes, Miami, Goa and many more”, shared Veebha who is quite excited to be a part of the project.
The actress revealed that the movie is inspired by a real life character, who fought all odds to bring a positive change in the society. “I am very happy to be a part of such a project as it is a real life story which took place some years back in a village. The movie gives a positive message and I hope it makes a difference”, she added.
Well, let us hope that the film proves successful and adds another feather to Veebha’s cap.
