Visaaranai: Thank you Vetrimaaran for getting me my third National Award, says Dhanush

Actor-turned-producer Dhanush is on cloud nine after his Tamil film Visaaranai bagged three National Awards on Monday. The win has given the star triple the joy and the encouragement to back more such films.

Dhanush, who produced Visaaranai, took to Twitter to thank the director Vetrimaaran for giving him his third National Award.

National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s Visaaranai has won the Best Tamil Film, Best Supporting Actor and Best Editing awards.

The film, based on writer M Chandrakumar’s novel Lock Up, had already received international recognition when it had its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival.

The film is about the story of four migrant workers who get wrongly blamed for a crime they never committed.

This is the third time that Dhanush’s collaboration with Vetrimaaran has resulted in National Award wins.

Their earlier collaborations include Aadukalam, which bagged six National Awards and Kaaka Muttai, which bagged three.
