Actress Neelu Kohli is a respectable name in the industry and has done films and television both in her career. Recently the actor was seen in Anurag Kashyap‘s Manmarziyaan as Abhishek Bachchan‘s mother.
Speaking on her whole experience of working for Manmarziyaan, Neelu says, “I got the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s mom through casting director Mukesh Chhabra. When I was being called for this initially I was not sure because sometimes your scenes just get lost in editing. But Mukesh Chhabra told me – do this film you will never regret your decision. And am so happy that I did this film. The entire experience was awesome. While working in Manmarziyaan I have unlearnt many things. Anurag Kashyap is a brilliant director and he knows his work very well. The whole script and ideas are in his head and he used to improvise a lot on the spot. So if an actor in his film can understand his style and follow him then he or she will be a winner in every way. The feedback of my role is so far excellent.”
Neelu is often seen as Punjabi mother in Hindi films so does that typecast her? “Yes there have been cases and that is a norm in the industry. But at the same time when you work with reputed production houses and good directors, they don’t typecast you. My role has important scenes in the film and I have got all kind of positive messages from people which satiate my artistic hunger.“
